What Is Kybella?

Kybella is a non-surgical injectable treatment that removes excess fat beneath the chin. The FDA-approved treatment is the only cosmetic procedure aimed specifically at double chins. Numerous men and women are unhappy with the skin under their chins, and Kybella is the simplest and quickest solution currently available.

What Happens During Kybella Treatment?

The first step of your Kybella treatment in Tampa will be a consultation with Dr. Holcomb or Dr. Kreithen. The doctor will get to know you, your hopes for the procedure, your medical history, any medications you take, and your allergies.

When the treatment appointment arrives, the team at our MedSpa will begin by applying a topical anesthetic beneath your chin. Next, they will mark the injection sites all around the area that will be targeted. Using a very fine needle, the doctor will then begin making injections. Each treatment of Kybella will involve anywhere from 10 to 50 injections and take approximately 10 to 20 minutes. You may feel a slight pressure from the injections, but the numbing cream should prevent any pain.

After the injections are finished, the area under your chin will be dressed in a compression garment to assist in the healing process.

How Many Kybella Treatments Are Needed?

The number of Kybella treatments needed depends on the person. To achieve the best possible results, it’s usually recommended to undergo between two and four treatments spaced six weeks apart. However, some patients require as many as six Kybella treatments for optimal results.

How Long Do the Results of Kybella Last?

One great thing about Kybella is that it provides long-lasting results. After receiving the necessary number of treatments, the positive effects should last several years. In some cases, the results of Kybella can even be permanent.

What are the risks and side effects of Kybella?

Kybella is a safe, FDA-approved treatment, and the most common side effects are minor. The following side effects will typically fade within one to two weeks:
