CoolSculpting® is an FDA-approved fat removal procedure that selectively freezes and destroys fat cells in a targeted area. At Holcomb - Kreithen Plastic Surgery & MedSpa, we are able to offer dual sculpting, where two CoolSculpting machines are used simultaneously to treat paired body areas such as arms, legs, the upper and lower back, and the right and left sides of the abdomen and flanks. We also use the latest applicators with updated technology that enables a shorter treatment time of just 35 minutes.

Non-Surgical Body Contouring [CoolSculpting & CoolTone]

What is CoolSculpting?

Discovered and developed by scientists at Harvard, CoolSculpting is a completely non-surgical technology that works by using extreme cold to freeze pockets of stubborn fat and permanently remove them from the body. This process is known as cryolipolysis. CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved body contouring treatment that is best for those who have a healthy lifestyle and who are close to their goal weight.

Before & After Coolsculpting in Tampa

What areas can CoolSculpting treat?

The CoolSculpting technology is constantly advancing with the development of new applicators to target an increasing number of areas of the body, including:

  • Area under the chin
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Back/bra fat
  • Neck
  • Buttocks
  • Arms
  • Flanks (love handles)
  • Male chest

CoolSculpting treatment details

CoolSculpting treatments do not require any injections, anesthesia, or incisions. You will recline on a chair and a cool sheet will be placed on your skin. After this, cooling panel applicators will be set on top of the cooling sheet. From these panel applicators, vacuum pressure and intense cold will be delivered to the areas to be treated. Most patients have numbness or tingling sensations due to the extreme cold.

After each session is over, the treated areas will initially feel very firm and very cold, but they will gradually return to normal body temperature. Areas of the body that have been previously treated with CoolSculpting can be re-treated for further improvement in a process called "Treat to Complete". Multiple body sites can be treated on the same day if desired. We have had quite a few patients pursue many treatments in a single day to fast-track their overall progress and results.

  • Have enough fat to treat
  • Are generally healthy non-smokers

  • Understand the treatment and have realistic expectations

Recovery and results

Immediately after your CoolSculpting treatment, you can return to your regular activities. Side effects may include tenderness to the touch, swelling, bruising, cramping, and sensitivity. These will go away within a few days to one week.

Patients will begin to see results in as little as one month, but more typically in 2 to 4 months as approximately 24% of the treated fat cells undergo a process called apoptosis, which results in the elimination and metabolism of their lipid content. The contour of the treated areas improves during this process of fat cell elimination.

What is the cost of the CoolSculpting procedure?

Treatment costs vary depending on the areas you want to address and range anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500. This is why we recommend you come in for a consultation for CoolSculpting in Tampa so that our team can ensure all your questions are answered, and you leave with a detailed service quote based on your individual needs and body type.

Coolsculpting FAQs

Is CoolSculpting painful?

CoolSculpting is not painful, but you will feel extremely cold temperatures which may result in numbness and/or tingling. The vacuum part of the procedure also creates a tugging sensation that some find uncomfortable. Some patients also report some discomfort during the cell elimination massage, which happens after the panels are removed. If you’re concerned about any discomfort during the procedure, please bring this up during your consultation so that we can explain more in-depth details for you.

How long is a CoolSculpting treatment?

The average length of time of a CoolSculpting treatment is 30 minutes per area; however, this will depend on which areas are being treated.
