Lip Lift Techniques

Sub-nasal lift

A sub-nasal lip lift elevates the upper lip and adds fullness, as well as creating teeth show. This achieves a more youthful appearance. This procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes, and the incision is hidden underneath the nose, fading with time.

Lip advancement

A lip advancement procedure enhances “show” of the upper and/or lower red lip. After the incision is made along the vermilion border, a small amount of skin (above the upper lip and/or below the bottom lip) will be removed. After this, the vermilion will be rolled outward and upward and sutured into place over the area.

Corner lift

The corner lift has a high patient satisfaction rate and improves a “permanent scowl” that many patients have. Incisions are made on the upper outer edges of the lip. Next, a small section of skin is gently removed at the corner of the mouth. When the sutures are placed, the result will be a subtle “pulling up” of the lip, creating a more attractive appearance.

Lip augmentation

A lip augmentation adds volume to the upper and/or lower lip using either dermal fillers (which are temporary) or natural soft tissue (fat transfer or SMAS transfer). Dermal fillers are extremely popular, but require repeated treatments to maintain the results. Using natural soft tissue delivers permanent results.

Your Lip Lift Consultation

Before your lip lift procedure, you will have a personal consultation with us to determine which type of lip procedure is right for your needs. Important considerations include any previous surgeries, and whether the primary goal is to restore volume or to allow more “show” of the red part of the lips. After determining which procedure is best for you, you will receive a quote and can schedule your appointment.

Recovery

A lip lift requires more of a recovery period than simple lip fillers. While you’re recovering from a lip lift, it’s important to be very mindful of the incisions.

Try not to laugh, smile excessively, or yawn. You may experience some bruising or redness, and your mouth may feel tight and/or swollen for up to one week. Swelling should be completely subsided in a month. Final results from a lip lift surgery are apparent about six weeks after treatment.
