After a consultation to determine Juvederm Voluma may likely achieve the desired results, Juvederm Voluma XC will be injected in small amounts to the treatment areas. This is an in-office procedure and typically requires just topical anesthesia, as the Voluma solution contains lidocaine, a local numbing agent. Results of Voluma injections are immediately apparent, although some patients experience mild swelling that may last for several days. Other side effects may occur but are typically mild – these may include tenderness and bruising.
Rare outcomes include localized fullness. If irregularities occur, Voluma may be reversed using a natural enzyme. Patients may return to work and normal activities immediately after treatment. Most patients find Voluma treatments are less painful than other fillers, as Voluma is injected deeper in the skin where fewer nerves are present. This also reduces the likelihood of bruising.
