How the Contour TRL Laser Works

The Contour TRL laser peel safely removes the outermost layer of skin, with the treatment depth adjusted to best address your concerns. The resurfacing depth will depend on the condition of the skin, your specific goals, and the anticipated downtime.

The Contour TRL erbium YAG laser affects skin tissue with incredible precision, which means your skin will be treated with precisely the amount of energy that is required. The laser skin treatment will stimulate the production of new collagen to improve the thickness and texture of the skin while also improving the skin’s outer clarity and brilliance.

Treatment Details

With shallow treatments, the laser peel is usually well tolerated with a topical anesthetic. For deeper treatments, both topical and local anesthetic medications are required, and many patients also opt for sedation anesthesia. Just before treatment, your skin will be cleansed, and your eyes will be covered and protected. A laser handpiece will then be positioned over the skin and held in place while a computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam. Depending on the treatment area(s), this procedure will be completed within just a few minutes for smaller zones, and up to 30 minutes for the full face.

Recovery and Results

While the complete recovery and healing time will depend on the depth of treatment, you can expect a recovery of 3 to 4 days for a shallow treatment, and 5 to 7 days or longer with a deeper treatment.

After your treatment you may experience redness, and your skin may feel like you have a sunburn. There may also be some swelling. You will be instructed to apply a special topical balm to protect the skin during the initial healing process.

It’s also important to avoid direct sunlight until your skin is fully healed, as the treatment will make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure.

After the outer skin layers have healed (typically about one week), camouflage mineral makeup may be used. At this point, you will notice improvements in the texture and tone of your skin. A deeper laser skin resurfacing treatment will stimulate collagen remodeling over 4 to 6 months, allowing for gradual improvements in the tightness of your skin over time.
